Industrial lamps can be categorized into two types based on their lighting functions: general lighting lamps and task lighting lamps.
General lighting lamps are usually evenly installed above the work area or on the side walls, illuminating the entire workspace. This requires the use of high-power light sources such as incandescent lamps, halogen lamps, high-intensity gas discharge lamps, or a large number of fluorescent lamps. The vast majority of industrial lamps belong to this category. General lighting lamps have higher requirements for light distribution, with direct lighting and semi-direct lighting being widely used, especially the latter. In the semi-direct lighting type, part of the light emitted upwards illuminates the ceiling, which can increase ceiling brightness and create a more comfortable and brighter environment.
Task lighting lamps, on the other hand, enhance illumination for specific work areas. It can strengthen and complement general lighting or serve as temporary lighting in places that ordinarily do not require it (such as equipment maintenance or service areas). There are no strict rules concerning their light distribution. Task lighting lamps are generally installed near the work area and use safe, extra-low voltage (≤50V AC RMS) light sources such as incandescent and halogen lamps. This category includes portable lamps, hanging lamps, desk lamps, and machine tool working lamps. In some large workshops, floodlights are sometimes used for task lighting.
Industrial lamps can be divided according to light sources into traditional industrial lamps (such as sodium lamps, mercury lamps, etc.) and
LED industrial lamps. Compared to traditional industrial lamps
LED industrial lamps have significant advantages:
1.LED industrial lamps have a high color rendering index (CRI) of RA>70.
2. LED industrial lamps are high in luminous efficacy and more energy-efficient, where a 100W LED industrial lamp can replace a traditional 250W one.
3. Traditional light sources have the drawback of high lamp temperature, which can reach 200-300 degrees Celsius. LED, being a cold light source, has a lower lamp temperature and is safer.
4. LED industrial lamps are continually innovating. The new fin-type heat sink design has made the cooling of the lamps more efficient, significantly reducing the weight of the industrial lighting fixtures, so that the overall weight of an 80W LED industrial lamp has been reduced to below 4KG. This design also effectively addresses the cooling issue for 80-300W LED industrial lamps.
