In recent years LED wall washers have been widely applied to various places such as illuminating the walls of corporate buildings, government buildings, historical structures, entertainment venues, and the range of their application continues to expand. From initial indoor use to outdoor, and from partial to complete illumination, there has been a substantial improvement and development. With the ongoing progression of the times LED wall washers are becoming an indispensable part of lighting projects.
Voltage
The voltage of LED wall washers can be subdivided into: 220V, 110V, 36V, 24V, 12V, etc., so we need to pay attention to the corresponding voltage when choosing the power supply.
Protection Level
This is an important parameter for wall washers and a significant indicator affecting the quality of current guardrail tubes. We must have strict requirements, especially for outdoor use, where a waterproof level of IP65 or above is preferable. Additionally, there should be requirements for pressure resistance, shatter resistance, high and low-temperature resistance, flame resistance, and impact aging resistance. The protection level IP65 means: 6 signifies complete prevention of dust entry, and 5 means no harm from water jets.
Working Temperature
As wall washers are often used outdoors, this parameter becomes very important. The temperature requirement is also quite high; generally, we require outdoor temperature capabilities from -40℃ to +60℃ for functioning. But since wall washers are made with an aluminum casing that has good heat dissipation, generally, they can meet these temperature requirements.
Lighting Angle
The lighting angle generally comes in three categories: narrow (around 20 degrees), medium (around 50 degrees), and wide (around 120 degrees). Currently, the farthest effective projection distance for high-powered LED wall washers (narrow angle) is between 20-50 meters.
Number of LED Beads
For general-purpose wall washers, the number of LEDs is 9/300mm, 18/600mm, 27/900mm, 36/1000mm, 36/1200mm.
Color Specifications
2 segments, 6 segments, 4 segments, 8 segments of full color, rainbow colors, red, yellow, green, blue, purple, white, and other colors.
Mirror
A glass reflective lens with a light transmittance of 98-98%, is not easy to fog up and can resist UV radiation.
Control Method
Currently, there are two control methods for LED wall washers: internal and external control. Internal control means that no external controller is needed; designers incorporate the control system within the wall washer, and the effect is not changeable. External control means that an external controller is connected; the effect can be changed by adjusting the main control's buttons. Usually, for large projects, customers want the ability to change effects, so we use the external control scheme. Many wall washers also directly support the DMX512 control system.
Light Source
Generally, 1W or 3W LEDs are used as light sources, but due to immature technology, 1W is more commonly used in the market because 3W generates more heat and has quicker luminous decay if not dissipated properly.
The above parameters must be considered when selecting high-power LED wall washers. To reduce light loss from the light emitted by the LED tubes and to improve illumination, each LED tube of the wall washer carries a high-efficiency lens made of PMMA.
