LED industrial and mining lights can be divided into two types based on their lighting function: general lighting and task lighting.
General lighting fixtures are usually uniformly arranged above the workplace or on the side walls to illuminate the entire work surface, which requires the use of large-power incandescent lamps, halogen lamps, high-intensity gas discharge lamps, or a large number of fluorescent lamps. The vast majority of industrial and mining lights fall into this category. General lighting has higher requirements for light distribution and commonly uses direct lighting and semi-direct lighting types of light distribution, especially the latter. The upward light in semi-direct lighting helps illuminate the ceiling, enhancing the brightness of the ceiling and creating a more comfortable and brighter environment.
Task lighting is a type of lighting that increases the illumination of a specific work area. Its function may be to enhance or supplement general lighting, or it can be used as temporary lighting in places that do not usually require lighting (such as equipment maintenance and repair areas). There are usually no strict requirements for the light distribution of task lighting. Task lighting is often installed near the work area, with incandescent and halogen lamps as the light source, using safe extra-low voltage (≤50V AC RMS). There are portable lights, pendant lights, desk lamps, machine tool work lights, etc. In some large-scale factories, floodlights are also sometimes used for task lighting.
Industrial and mining lights can also be divided into traditional light source industrial and mining lights (such as sodium lamps, mercury lamps, etc.) and
LED industrial and mining lights. Compared to traditional industrial and mining lights, LED industrial and mining lights have significant advantages:
LED industrial and mining lights have a high color rendering index (CRI>70).
LED industrial and mining lights have high luminous efficiency and are more energy-efficient; for instance, a 100W LED industrial and mining light can replace a traditional 250W one.
Traditional light sources have the drawback of high lamp temperature, which can reach 200-300 degrees. In contrast, LED is a cold light source, with lower lamp temperature, making it safer.
LED industrial and mining lights are undergoing continuous innovation. New fin-type heat sink designs in industrial and mining lights have significantly reduced the weight of the fixtures. The overall weight of an 80W LED industrial and mining lamp has been reduced to below 4KG, and it can perfectly solve the heat dissipation problem for 80-300W LED industrial and mining lamps.
